Monster
(AN ODE TO SIN PART II)
One eyed, claws,
green,
huge teeth.
A beast able to devour anything.
*
You were once the monster in my closet,
but I'm no longer a child.
I've grown up--out of my ignorance,
and now I'm out to confront you.
You seem suprised that the scales fell from my eyes.
Your demise won't be delayed, I'm no longer afraid.
You're not the monster I once thought you were.
*
Retract your claws.
Unball your fists.
Your fighting is futile,
because now the shackles are on your wrists.
*
There's mist in your eye.
A side I've never seen before.
What's the matter--sad that I'm no longer on your platter of blinded servants?
*
You've held me captive for far too long,
and your weapon of intimidation has lost it's venomous sting.
Put away your tactics,
I won't be just another "thing" you possess.
*
Don't bring me your enticement,
I know the fake pleasures you offer.
I'll no longer be a slave to the habits I once craved.
*
Tell me, now that the shackles are on your wrists,
How does it feel to be my slave?
