What is Global Rescue Bible Institute?
A former inmate started Global Rescue Bible Institute in early 2006 to get the best instruction into the hands of ALL who want a first-class Bible education. It is our mission to instruct each and every person who desires a deeper relationship with Christ, and we feel that no one should be excluded, regardless of their socio-economic status or even if society has labeled them an outcast or criminal.
Global Rescue Bible Institute is primarily a correspondence course for inmates, parolees, and probationers. However, this school is open for anyone who truly wants to serve the Lord, Jesus Christ. Our goal is to aid students in coming into a closer walk with Jesus Christ through Christ-centered, college-level courses that are sent directly to the inmate (or ex-prisoner, or others) via U.S. mail.
GRBI is a non-denominational, college-level correspondence course. - In other words, we believe the entire Word of God, and Spirit-Filled ministers of the gospel impart this into our lessons. For more information on what we believe, please refer to our "Statement of Faith".
Not Just An Institute of Higher Learning, But a True Ministry
Because GRBI was founded by an ex-inmate, (and even some members on the board committee are ex-inmates) we can serve prisoners in a much greater capacity. Since many of us have been in their situation we know how to minister to the spiritual and educational needs of inmates and their families (Programs of study are available to the immediate family members of inmates with a reduced tuition-see tuition section for details). As an extension of this ministry, GRBI offers personal counsel via e-mail to any family member who has a loved one who is incarcerated. GRBI also has a unique feature where we answer theological and other personal questions that the inmates may have concerning a wide variety of topics and issues. Most importantly, we are standing in faith through prayer for each person who enrolls with Global Rescue Bible Institute, that God indeed has a future and hope for them whether they understand it or not. It is our goal to mold these men and women into soldiers for Christ Jesus and together WE will send laborers out into the fields, for the harvest is ready!
Enrollment & Cost
Enrolling in Global Rescue Bible institute is quite simple. Since most people who are reviewing this catalog are family members, friends, ministers or acquaintances of those who are incarcerated we offer an on-line application that can be filled out and sent to our e-mail by anyone who wants an incarcerated person to start the enrollment process. We must make it clear, however, that we will not force anyone to enroll in the school. Once the form has been completed we will contact the inmate and it will be up to him/her to respond in a timely fashion. If after we have successfully contacted the inmate and several weeks have transpired, we will cease all communication with them except for the ministry contact letters (letters we send in periodically just to see how they are doing; we call it, "dropping a life line".)
For those who have never been incarcerated or convicted, please complete the application and placement test and return it to our address with a $15.00 application fee and $5.00 grading fee for the test. You may also e-mail us these forms to grescueministries@hotmail.com. The fees, however, must be mailed directly to GRBI in the form of a money order.
Cost? Obviously, the cost for attending GRBI is free to those who are currently incarcerated. Donations, however, are extremely appreciated as the school's operating cost of sending in one lesson per month to one inmate is very costly.
Courses
The school offers three educational courses:
- Six month non-credit course: During the six months the student will participate in an introduction to basic Bible doctrine and beliefs, such as: Salvation, Sin, Redemption, Sanctification, Atonement, God's attributes, Bible study methods and much more! Based on placement test scores, this course may be required as a pre-requisite to the twelve and twenty-four month certificate and graduation course. Completion of the 6-month curriculum will be awarded a Certificate of Basic Bible Doctrine.
- Twelve-month certificate course: This course involves the core curriculum of the Bible institute. Students who complete this course will receive a Certificate of Biblical Studies.
- Twenty-four month graduation course: During the first twelve months the student will learn more advanced doctrines and Bible surveys as the institute's core curriculum, and will move on into advanced theological studies in the last twelve months, including: Bible geography, Bible manners and customs, Bible exposition, Evangelism, Hebrew and Greek Word Studies, Bible studies on the Tabernacle, Temple, Names of God and much more! Satisfactory completion of this course will be awarded the Diploma of Theology in Ministry.
Certificates & Diplomas
GRBI will confer upon students the following Certificates or Diplomas:
Certificate Of Basic Bible Doctrine (6 Month Course) Non-credit (Equivalent to 12-15 Credit Hours)
Certificate of Biblical Studies (12 Month Course) 30 Credit Hours
Diploma of Theology in Ministry (24 Month Course) 60 Credit Hours
*Note: These courses of study may take longer depending upon several conditions or circumstances and are based on an average student's ability to achieve in collegiate level academics.
What We Believe
We understand that most people may have questions concerning the tenets that we hold to and this is why we have made our statement of faith available. We are a non-denominational institute that is concerned with equipping the saints for a greater work for God, and most importantly, helping the individual develop a closer, more intimate union with Christ Jesus.
Mission Statement & Tenets of Faith
Mission Statement:
- To provide a quality biblical education to those who are incarcerated, to inmates families, parolees, probationers and others.
- To teach a practical, spirit-filled, systematic theology (study of God) for the equipping of the saints to reach others for Christ.
- To emphasize the great commission within all of our studies (Mark 16).
- To encourage and minister to the spiritual and educational needs of those who are incarcerated and/or their families
- To help prepare inmates for an eventual release into society.
- To grant Diplomas and Certificates of Achievement to remind the individual of an accomplished goal, and to have a document available upon release from incarceration for inclusion in a resume or other portfolio.
Tenets of Faith:
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, given to men by the Holy Spirit to reveal the true nature and essence of God and His dealings with man.
We believe in the eternal Godhead who has revealed Himself in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; and that all three exist co-equally and co-eternally.
We believe that man is sinful and in need of a Redeemer, and was redeemed by Jesus Christ on the cross, through His death, burial and resurrection and that man must accept this redemption by faith and appropriate the redemption to his life by trusting (believing) in Christ and His work for us.
We believe in the virgin birth of Christ, that He is the Son of God, that He was sinless in His humanity and perfect and complete in His Deity, that He came to save man from eternal condemnation by giving His life, and that He is alive, seated at the right hand of God, making intercession for the believer.
We believe in the personal work of the Holy Spirit, which includes conviction, and regeneration of the sinner, and indwelling of believers.
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and that it is available to all believers who ask for it by faith.
We believe that Christ's work on the cross also provided for divine bodily healing for those who ask in prayer by faith.
We believe in a bodily resurrection of those who are saved and those who are lost; the saved to everlasting life with God in heaven, and the lost to everlasting life with Satan and his workers in hell.
We believe in the personal, imminent return of our Lord Jesus for His bride.
We believe that by true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ that ANY person may obtain salvation and that His work on the cross was for ALL of humanity (the world) and not just a select group.
Tuition & Fees
There is NO TUITION cost for prisoners to enroll in the Bible Institute.
Tuition for full-time students on parole or probation is $22.00 per month.
Tuition for full-time students who are the immediate family member of an inmate is $45.00 per month.
All others will be assessed a monthly tuition rate of $65.00 and a $5.00 grading fee.
Application Fees
There is no application fee for those incarcerated.
For all others, there is a $18.00 non-refundable fee that must be sent in with the enrollment application and $5.00 to grade the placement test.
GRBI cannot complete the enrollment process until all the above items are received.
Graduation Fees
While there is no tuition to receive lessons from GRBI, we do require (only if they want an official diploma/transcript) the individual, upon his/her release from prison, to provide us with $35.00, which will allow us to mail the general transcripts and official diploma to them. At this time several prisons will not allow us to mail in the official diplomas and therefore we will offer an unofficial diploma (B&W) that can be mailed directly for his/her records. Once the prisoner is released from prison, or if a family member would like to receive the diploma in their stead (with written approval from the inmate), they may pay the $25.00 by money order and we will immediately send out the necessary documents. This is the only fee that the prisoner will have to pay (only upon release). All other students will pay $75.00 for graduation fees.
Donations
Because this is a ministry, we do not solicit government help with the on-going costs of running this institute. We depend upon the Lord and trust that He will provide for all the needs of this school. If the Lord moves upon your heart to donate to this ministry, you may do so by sending us a check or money order. Thank you for your donation; you are helping to spread the instruction of the Word to those who could not get it otherwise.
To Apply: Send an e-mail to grescueministries@hotmail.com Type in "Institute" in the subject area.

Text Books
For Inmates: No textbooks are required at Global Rescue Bible Institute, and all lesson/course material will be sent unstapled and in a medium size envelope to the prisons. If someone other than a prisoner enrolls in G.R.B.I., we reserve the right to require the student(s) to buy their own textbooks and/or to help with the costs of copies for the lessons. Currently, copyright permission is only granted for use with prisoners who cannot obtain textbooks for the course.
For others attending the school: Average total book cost will be approximately $10 per month.
Chapel, Protestant Service Attendance
Each student is required to attend at least one chapel, protestant church service or protestant Bible study each week (This includes everyone, prisoners included). We understand that there can be delays in enrolling into these services in many prisons, and therefore we allow a one (1) month grace period. An officiating person for the service or study must sign off for every student on a tabulation sheet that is provided by us. Students who are not incarcerated must attend a protestant church of their choice and have a church minister or pastor verify their attendance for that week. Students will receive an S (satisfactory) or a U (unsatisfactory) grade for chapel. Two or more consecutive months with an unsatisfactory grade can involve a school issued withdrawal (SD).
Accreditation
Global Rescue Bible Institute is not accredited through any nationally recognized firm and reserves the right to change, employ or regulate the school as necessary. We hold strictly to the Bible and it doctrines and will not compromise this for the ability to be recognized by an accrediting firm. However, the curriculum is based on a collegiate/technical school level and involves very serious study of God's word.
Transfer Credits
Students will be awarded credits and will have a G.P.A. (Grade Point Average) for every six months that they attend GRBI. (No credits are awarded for the six month course) Grades are based on the following schedule:
Grade Quality Pts. Total quality points, divided by total credits achieved, equals G.P.A.

We will evaluate any previously earned credits and apply them to the course that you will be taking at GRBI. A maximum transfer of credits will not exceed 25% of the overall credits needed for graduation with GRBI.
